untitled6th December 2016: A grand function was held on the basketball ground right after the first period to mark the concluding ceremony of RDL (Readers of Dalai Lama) for the year 2016 academic year. RDL is a voluntary group of both teachers and students who had been reading and discussing on the books of His Holiness the Dalai Lama during their free time. Since its inception, two more schools namely TCV Chauntra led by Mr. Passang Tsering la and ITI Selakui led by Mr. Lhakpa Dhoundup la have started this RDL in their respective schools. Mr. Sonam Sichoe la, the Education Director of TCV Schools was invited as the chief guest along with Mr. Passang Tsering la, Principal imgp5829TCV Chauntra and three representatives from Mr. Lhakpa Dhoundup la, the Director of ITI Selakui, Dehradun. The function was attended by the school Director Mr. Choeying Dhoundup la, the School Principal Mr. Karma Sherap Therchin la, the teachers and students of Junior and senior section.

The function began with the lifelong prayer for His Holiness the Dalai Lama led by school Religious teacher. Mr. Ngawang Tseten la, the man behind this successful RDL project gave an introductory and welcome speech. He spoke in length about the first, middle and final stage of this imgp5870project. Likewise the school Director and the Principal addressed the gathering one after another and spoke highly of this project and thank everyone who were involved directly or indirectly. They both requested the present members to go further incessantly and hoped others to be a part of this noble initiative in the coming academic year and make this entire school Readers of Dalai Lama.

A representative from the students’ RDL group, master Thutop la, former school Captain shared his feeling and experience of being a part of this RDL. Most of the teachers and students had a very good imgp5966self-improvement and new learning experience apart from understanding the three basic principles of our beloved leader. After that, the souvenirs and T-Shirts of RDL were given to the chief guest and other invited guests including school Director and Principal. Mr. Ngawang Tseten la also gave His Holiness’ book each to all the teachers who had given him helping hand. RDL souvenirs were also given to the 8 students’ leader who had been working tirelessly in making this RDL reach its aims and objectives.

Finally, Mr. Sonam Sichoe la addressed the gathering. He began by 15267952_10207803612749185_716668557685525747_nthanking both the teachers and students of class V for their outstanding result in the recent class V common exam held among 52 Tibetan schools. Speaking about RDL, he thanked TCV School Suja with special mention of Gen Ngawang Tseten la for coming up with special project worth replicated in other TCV Schools. More importantly, he was impressed by the fact that this project had not been disrupting the school hours and programs. He requested everyone to carry forward this noble project. He also spoke about the importance of studying His photoHoliness’ three principles especially among the young ones.

The function concluded with a lifelong prayer for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and wishing for a successful accomplishment of His Holiness’ wishes. The Education Director offered scarf to Mr. Ngawang Tseten la for his outstanding work in creating this awareness about His Holiness’ book in the school. He read out the names of the sponsors of this RDL and thanked them on behalf of the group for the RDL full T-shirts, the RDL Stickers, the weekly refreshments, the colourful flex banners etc.

 

Nobel Peace Prize Celebration

10th December 2015: A grand function was held on the basketball ground to celebrate the 26th anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama being conferred the Nobel Peace Prize. The function began with the lifelong prayer and incense burning ceremony for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and for world peace by both the staff and students who were clad in traditional Tibetan dress and school uniform respectively. During the function, the school Religious teachers, the management committee, staff members and the students’ councils offered scarf to the large portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

After the religious ceremony, the school Headmaster Mr. Tenzin Dorjee la called upon the school Director Mr. Choeying Dhoundup la, who read out the statement of Kashag for this special occasion. After that, Mr. Tsering Wangdue la, senior Tibetan Language teacher read out the statement of Assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputy (ATPD) for the occasion. After the two speeches, the winners of the 2015 essay contest organized by the Department of Education, CTA were read out and given scarf and certificates by the school Director.

After that there was ceremonial songs and tribute to His Holiness by the school staff band “Phuntsok Deshe “ which enliven the special day. “ The songs were relevant for the occasion and well prepared by the band”, mused everyone. Their songs were joined in unison by the crowd who hummed “Gawa la dang Gawa la”, which was in fact on the tip of every Tom Dick and Harry’s tongue. The morning function concluded with the vote of thanks speech from the school Principal Mr. Karma Sherab Therchin la. Speaking on the occasion, he reiterated the importance of sense of gratitude among the younger generation towards His Holiness and all those who have made our lives comfortable. He also reminded all those gathered to have full faith in His Holiness and move forward. He also wished good luck for all the students for their Summative Assessment II on behalf of all the staff members.

As a special treat from the school, both the staff and students were treated “DHUM”, the famous Indian ceremonial meal. The meal was served on the open basketball ground in batches. It was in fact a nice experience for all to have a mass lunch on the ground. In the evening, there was official dinner for the staff members in the junior section hall.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama was bestowed with one of the most coveted honorary award, Nobel Peace Prize on 10th December 1989 for his untiring non-violent struggle and work for the Tibetans and the world in general. It was one of the best moments for entire Tibetan community. Since then, His Holiness has become the messenger of peace for the entire word. His message of love and compassion has won the heart of millions of people across the globe. Every year 10th December is celebrated to commemorate this day everywhere and holds a very special place in everyone’s heart.

1st December 2015: Tibetan Children’s Village School Suja, in collaboration with the Tibetan Primary Health Centre (TPH) Bir, the Department of Health, CTA collaboratively celebrated and observed the World Aids Day with various programs like painting, essay competition among students from various classes and Inter Department Basketball Tournament.
A function was arranged in the school hall at 10 am to mark the day. The theme of the World Aids Day is “Zero Discrimination against HIV”, as proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO). Dr. Ashutosh and Dr. Rajkumar, both senior doctors from Bir Government Hospital were the chief guests along with the Health Administer of TPH Mr. Tsering la and health center staff. The function was attended by the staff and students of senior section who were all wearing the red symbol.
The school Principal Mr. Karma Sherap Therchin la gave a welcome and introductory speech. After that one by one the two doctors gave a nice presentation on Aids, starting from the origin to the treatment. The students listened to their talk with lots of interest and importance. In today’s world, proper knowledge about Aids is very important among the youngster. As such lots of importance was given to observe this day in various schools and communities. After that, the health nurse Ms. Palkyi la from TPH gave detailed information about the guidelines of the Department of Health, CTA regarding the protection and welfare of HIV patients among Tibetan community.
During the function, the results of Painting and Essay competitions were declared. The winners were handsomely rewarded. Their paintings were displayed outside the auditorium for exhibition. The program lasted for little less than two hours. Finally, Gen Tenzin Paldon la, the school Career Counselor and the organizer of the event wrapped up the day by extending her vote of thanks for the two doctors, the Health Administrator and staff, the school Administration, the participating students and other colleagues, for their support and cooperation.
Various Programs had been arranged collaboratively a couple of weeks back in the school under the Initiative of Gen Tenzin Paldon la and Tibetan Primary Health Center, Bir Tibetan Colony. Inter Class XII English Essay was organized on the topic “I am HIV+ and I am living my life” and 124 students particpated. Apart from this, a painting competition was organized among the students from class VI to XII on AIDS. There were 26 students who had participated. There was also Inter Department Basketball Tournament going on a couple of days back and the final was played today i.e. 1st December between TCV Suja staff and Bir Tibetan Colony team. It was neck to neck competition. Finally after an hour the score was 46 and 48 and Bir team came triumphantly. Both the teams were given prizes by the school Director Mr. Choeying Dhoundup la.
The World Aids Day is one of the important International Days and every year the school leaves no stone unturned in observing the day every year by arranging various activities and programs in the school.

School Closing Ceremony-2013

24th December 2013: The School Closing Ceremony was held on the school basketball in the presence of students, staff members and the parents and relatives of the students. Mr. Dhonden la, the Director of Sambhota Tibetan school, Chauntra was the chief guest.

The function began with the singing of Tibetan national Anthem. Both the school Director and the Principal gave their final talk to the students mainly the importance of observing self discipline during the long winter vacation. They also gave their holiday homework and finally wish everyone a safe and productive holiday.

During the function, the staff members and students who had extra responsibilities were offered scarves for rendering their service. The results of the Essay competition as well as the names of the Best Boy and best girl were announced and given scarves and certificates.

Mr. Dhondhen la, the chief guest praised the school for where it stood now. He requested the students to maintain the reputation of the school and not to bring any black spot over the work done by past staff members and students. He wished everyone a wonderful and constructive holiday.

After the function, there was PTA( Parent Teacher Association) meeting in the Phuntsok Deshe hall. The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson of PTA, Mrs. Pema Dickyi la. It was attended by the school Principal, Mr. Karma Sherab Tharchin la, Director, Mr. Sonam Sichoe la, parents and the teachers. Both the Director and the Principal talked on the importance of this PTA meeting and requested all the parents and relatives of the students to interact with the concerned teachers about their children’s Academic performance. They also talked on the right way of parenting.

There was light refreshment for all those who had gathered. There was good interaction among both the parents as well as the teachers.

Nobel Day: Anniversary of His Holiness Conferment of Nobel Peace Prize

10th December 2013: The 23rd Anniversary of His Holiness’ Conferment of Nobel Peace Prize by the Nobel Committee was celebrated here in TCV School Suja. The function was held on the school Basketball ground. The day began with the lifelong prayer for His Holiness, who had turned 77 and offering of traditional scarf on the altar.

After that Mr. Tenzin Dorjee la, the Headmaster opened the function. The statements of Kashag and ATPD were read out by Mr. Nyima la and Mr. jamgon la respectively. Both the school Director and the Principal gave talk about the day and why the day was very important for all the people around the world particularly the Tibetans. They both requested the students and the staff members to follow the aspirations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and to feel gratitude.

There were various cultural presentation by both the staff and students starting with the song “ Nobel Thoeyang” a song dedicated to His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama on receiving the Nobel peace Prize. The cultural presentation was accompanied by the Tibetan tea and sweet rice stuffed with dry fruits as an auspicious gesture.

After the Nobel function, there was a brief function to mark the re-opening of the Indo Tibetan Friendship Association, Baijanth chapter. The function was attended by the Local governing bodies of the Indian community, the dignitaries of nearby Tibetan Settlements, Monasteries and schools. All the speakers including the school Director congratulated this new friendship and hoped that it would bring lots of co-operation between the two communities, Tibetan and Indian.

In the evening, there was a dinner cum annual farewell feast for all the staff members in the school hall. All the staff members had a nice time after they hectic academic session.
