Career Awareness Day was observed in school on 21st November 2017. Right career choice is very important in a students’ life. It is all the more helpful if a student can make this choice from early stage and prepare accordingly.

Every year, school try to invite various professionals to school to enlighten the students in various career choice and to share their experiences in the pursuit of their career. It has been very fruitful to the students. So this year too, with the support from school administration and with great initiation taken by school’s career counselor Mrs. Tenzin Paldon la, school was able to welcome five different professionals from various fields in a Tibetan community. The five panelists were:

Mr. Pasang Tsering la Principal of the College for Higher Tibetan Studies , Sarah
Ms. Delek Wangmo la Director, Tibetan Ability Center
Mr. Tenzin Rigdol la Contemporary  Artist
Mr. Takla la Freelancer

 

The ‘Career Day’ function started at 11 am. Students from class level VII to XII attended the function. The function was led by students of class XII. Miss. Pema Khando la started with a warm welcome note to all. She invited Master Lugyal Dhondup la to introduce each panelist to the gathering by reading out their brief bio data. Then Master Bhuyak la started the real interactive session. He moderated the interactive conversation with full enthusiasm and proper management of time.  Each panelists were given five minute each to give brief insight to the gathering about their chosen career. Starting from Dr. Kunchok Tsundue la, each of them gave an overview of their profession and its scope. After the introductory round, the question answer session started. Students were given opportunity to put their questions to the panelists. Students came up with very interesting queries and the panelists gave a very insightful answers to their questions. It was a very educative interaction. This interactive session ran very smoothly with vibrant participation from students, the modesty with which moderator carried out this program was highly remarkable.

After the scheduled timing for Q & A session, the morning session of the Career Day concluded. Ms. Tenzin Passang la concluded the morning session by giving the acknowledgement speech. She started by thanking the panelists and every person involved in making the day successful. School’s principal then offered ceremonial scarf and souvenir to all the panelists. He also presented prizes to the selected students of class XII who performed well during mock interview done earlier this year.

In the afternoon session, each panelist were seated in different class rooms and the students of class XI and XII were given opportunity to interact with them. The students chose their choice of panelist and went with their queries and doubts to them. The students acquired great knowledge and was very content with the session. Many were inspired and motivated.

All in all, students got the opportunity to learn tremendously from all the speakers not only in their respective career but also in identifying their passion in life, overcoming the struggle in pursuing it and systematic planning of achieving their career goal.
