The big day has finally arrived. The much awaited day in every student’s life is their DSC_0168Graduation day; the last day of their school life. And from this day onward, they are all set to venture forward to a new life. Our outgoing class XII students proudly celebrated their Graduation ceremony on this day. They gave their last exam on 17th April and today we celebrate their Graduation Day. Just like the previous two batches, we wish them too a very successful result and life ahead. The occasion was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Mrs. Sonam Dolkar la(ex. Education Director TCV) and other important figures like, Dr. Shudha  (Principal KV school Allilal), and group of sponsors from Swiss led by Mr. Alain.

The function started with an introductory speech from our Director Mr. Namdol Tashi la. He welcomed everyone and gave a brief introduction of our chief guest to the gathering. Mrs. Sonam Dolkar la has served TCV for last 38 years in her various capacities as a regular English teacher to Head mistress, Principal and lastly our education director. Her dedication and determination to work for Tibetan children and particularly for TCV is highly admirable. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to her for accepting to grace the occasion.

He then welcomed Dr. Madam Shudha for also coming to our school to witness the occasion. Madam Sudha  is the principal of KV School, Alilal. KV school has been very co-operating and helpful to our school. KV school is our examination center for class XII board exam. Our students had been giving their exam in this school for last 2 years. We are very thankful to them for extending their support to us.

Mr. Namdol Tashi la then welcomed our friends from Swiss; our longtime supporter. Mr. Alain and his group were here for last three days on their visit to the school. Mr. Alain has been sponsoring our students for a very long time. He got connected to school since 1991. We are forever grateful to our supporters without whom we couldn’t have fare this far. And this is indeed a very fortunate moment that they could witness this day.

Like a father talking to his child, Mr. Namdol la gave some valuable advices to the graduates. His key points were to follow good moral values and maintain self-discipline. Now, that they are graduating, and have full freedom in their hand, they should be wise in using their freedom and choose right path in life. Before concluding, he again stressed that His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Ama Jetsun Pema la plays the most important role in our lives and we should be forever indebted to them. Indebtedness and Gratefulness is one moral value they should all possess.

Various cultural shows, Tibetan lyrical poetry recitations and new song numbers from School’s western band entertained the audience.DSC_0364

Limelight of the program was the farewell speech by outgoing students’ representative and ex. Girls Captain Ms. Pema Yangdon la. She spoke on behalf of all the Graduates. She talked loud, clear and strong. She gripped everybody’s attention. Starting from expressing her gratitude to each and every staff members of the school, she held her primary teachers as the most important factor in her life. With a “thank you speech”, she also delivered her “sorry message” to everyone and sought forgiveness for all the mistakes they have done intentionally or unintentionally. She then advised the present students to behave well and carry their duties as a student in best ways. At last, expressing her gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Ama Jetsun Pema la and all our Tibetan martyrs, she promised to follow their footsteps and become a good Tibetan. She then presented a collage of farewell messages by the outgoing students to the school and requested everyone to read it.

The program proceeded further with speech by Principal KV School. She thanked all for welcoming her to the ceremony and admired the administration and staff for imbibing good moral and cultural values into the students. She was very happy to have started a connection with our school and look forward for more interactions in future. She blessed the gathering with a felicitation and musical ode to Sarawasti; goddess of knowledge, music, art and wisdom. The audience were in awe to hear her melodious voice.

All her life she has worked for Tibetan children’s education and she never regrets a single moment. She feels very proud even now. She requested every student to make the best of the opportunities given to them. Time is the most important factor in one’s life and it shouldn’t be wasted at all. She also counselled the graduates to be alert in making choice in life and use their freedom wisely. Self-discipline and self-reliance are now important factors that will help them in future. She wished them all very best of luck and success. Like others, she also expressed and acknowledged that Gratitude is one good moral value that we should all possess.
