12th October 2016: A group of around 30 Montessori students demonstrated their daily life exercises they had learnt in their class to the audience in the junior section hall. The special program’ which was organized by the two Montessori teachers was attended by the school Director Mr. Choeying Dhoundup la, the school Principal Mr. Karma Sherap Therchin la, the headmaster Mr. Tashi Topgyal la, local parents, the teachers and the students of junior section.

Montessori is the first formal class a child enters when he or she reaches the age of 3. So, as per the guidelines of Maria Montessori, the founder of this Montessori, various programs such as games, songs, Arithmetic, story, music, language, sensory feeling, daily life activities etc. But our of all these,  a special emphasis is given in imparting Daily Life exercises along with the regular academic learning. As such, the two teachers, Mrs. Tsering Tsomo la and Mrs. Dolma Choedhen la left no stone unturned in following these principles.

The children were taught about their personal, community and rich cultures. On this day, the students demonstrated their daily life exercises such as greeting others; helping others; taking care of environment; helping their aged parents; doing the daily house chores etc. Mrs. Tsering Tsomo la gave an introductory speech about this practice and the importance of letting the parents and others know what children in Montessori classes were learning. Mrs. Dolma Choedhen la called upon the groups one by one.

It was really good to see these tiny tots trying to be self reliant and learning their life skills way before they enter the real world. A huge round of applause was given to the children and of course to the two teachers for their hard work and dedication. The concerned parents were elated to see their own children preparing themselves to merge into the main stream in future. This is the way these children are prepared so that they can take care of themselves when they go out into the society sans their parents. The future stores good for the humanity.
