Sherig Kalon, Mr. Ngodup Tsering la the chief guest 

8th April 2016: Mr. Ngodup Tsering la, the Education Kalon of the Department of Education, CTA attended the graduation ceremony of TCV School Suja’s class XII second batch. The function was attended by the Representative Officer of the local Tibetan settlements, the Directors, Principals, Headmasters of nearby Tibetan schools, staff members and students of the school. A flower dotted make-shift tent was raised overhead and a giant flex banner with the words “Congratulations 2016 Class XII” written standing majestically behind the rows of the outgoing class XII students, who were all wearing their beautiful graduation black cap.

The function was presided over by the school Director, Mr. Choeying Dhoundup la, who congratulated the students and presented a brief report on TCV School Suja. Like a typical farewell speech, he advised the students to observe self discipline and to follow the right path in their lives. He reminded the students the sacrifices and the hard work of the staff members in making them where they were standing at present. Speaking on the occasion, he told the students to feel the gratitude of all the people who had worked so hard; he also told them to see what our society needed and try to serve the community.

After that, 136 outgoing class XII students were presented scarves by the chief guest. The students came one by one and the crowd kept giving them a big round of applause. After that, there was a poetry recitation by two students and their eloquence and the wordings created lots of emotions and tears welled up in many eyes. Luckily the Phuntsok Deshe band brought great relief for all as they presented some of their songs and enliven the crowd once again.

Master Tamdin Tsering la, former captain of the school spoke on behalf of all the outgoing class XII students. He thanked everyone for all the love and care towards them which they felt fully indebted to. He also extended whirl of apologies on their behalf for all the heartbreak and petty mischief they had committed unintentionally. He advised the junior students to be obedient to the staff members who were working for them and for the staff members; he requested them to keep working hard for the future seeds of Tibet.

The chief guest, Mr. Ngodup Tsering la congratulated the students and said, “It’s your Day!” on the very outset. He shared his knowledge about the significance of the graduation cap. Speaking on the occasion, he reminded the students about various scholarships at their disposal through the Department of Education, CTA and advised the students to follow the “Dhenpa She”. He spoke in length and breadth about the achievement and endevour of his department for uplifting the standard of education in Tibetan community such as early grade reading, Librarian’s workshops, teacher’s workshop and story book publications. Taking this opportunity, he congratulated the school for producing an excellent result last year and he concluded his talk with the hope that there would be more Sikyong and Gaden Podrang awardees from the school this year as well and assured that his Department would be there to help the students whenever help was needed for the students. After the function, Kalon escorted by the school heads visited Junior school classroom reading corners.

The school Principal, Mr. Karma Sherap Therchin gave a vote of thanks speech. Like last year, he also advised the students to follow the three principles in life; remember the kindness of His Holiness, remember you are Tibetan and never forget Tibetan language. He concluded his short speech with the hope of hearing good news from all the outgoing students in near future. He thanked all those who had helped in making the ceremony a grand success.

After the function, a group photo was taken with the chief guests, teachers and hostel warden. There was a bitter sweet feeling for everyone and it was a time for them to take photos and selfies with their dear ones in front of the giant flex banner. A lunch was served for the students and the staff members along with other guests and chief guest. The students had a short interaction and photo session with their teachers.
