5th April 2016: Geshe Dorji Damdul la, a translator of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Director of Tibet House, New Delhi visited TCV School Suja on 5th April and gave a valuable talk to the students and staff members on Values. The talk was arranged in Phuntsok Deshe hall. Geshe was here at Deer Park Institute, Bir for a week’s workshop on “Buddhist Psychology and its Application in Dharma Practice”. TCV Alumni Association had requested Geshe la to interact with the young Tibetan children in schools nearby including Chauntra,  Suja,  Gopalpur etc. As such Mr. Dawa Dhoundup la, Suja School’s TCV Alumni’s President contacted Geshe la and through the help of School Director and Principal, a talk was materialized.

 Mr. Ngawang Tseten la, another Alumni and senior teacher gave a brief introduction of Geshe Dorji Damdul la and praised highly for his service to the Tibetan community. Geshe la himself, an undeniable product of TCV family was honoured to speak and share his experiences with the students. After that Geshe talked for little more than an hour. During his talk, he reminded the children the hard work and sacrifices of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in taking the Tibetans to this present prosperous stage. He advised the children to feel the gratitude of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and to know how and why His Holiness is given deep respect globally. In between his talk, he shared some of the experiences he had while on his spiritual tour abroad.

He also recollected a speech given by His Holiness on one of TCV Dharamsala’s anniversary where His Holiness emphasized on the importance of doing specialization in various fields for the students. He lovingly requested the students to keep studying hard and preserve the rich Tibetan culture of giving high reverence to their teachers. For the staff members, Geshe la requested all to keep working hard for the molding of future builders of the nation. He reminded the staff members especially the teachers that they were indirectly helping His Holiness the Dalai Lama in his pursue towards better future citizen.

The entire attendees remained pin-drop silent as Geshe la spoke in his rich baritone voice with his eyes half closed.  After his talk, there was a brief question and answer sessions which was productively utilized by the students who were looking inspired. Gen Ngawang Tseten la thanked Geshe la and as a token of love and gratitude, he presented a scarf and school magazine on behalf of ex TCV through school Principal Mr. Karma Sherap Therchin la.
