30th March 2015: The recently released Tibetan and Bhutanese joint effort movie, “Drimey Kunden” was screened in the school by Norling Production, which had been producing the movie. The screening of the film was done on the open theatre and attended by both the staff and students.

The movie based on the life of our Philanthropic king Drimey Kunden, who had been known for his generosity; who had gone to the extent of giving his eyes. This was the first time the formerly Opera based story came in the form of full fledge film. Before the film was shown, the school Headmaster Mr. Tenzin Dorjee la gave a brief introduction of the film. The story of the king Drimey Kunden had been heard and known by most of the students earlier and this film form had further refreshed the story. The audience gave a warm welcomed to the film as they started showing the film. The film was beautifully made. Since, the film was the joint effort of both the Bhutanese and Tibetan; there were actors from both the communities. There were popular figures from the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) Dharamsala. The school was very fortunate to be able to watch the film which was intrinsically a part of our rich culture. The school thanked the Norling Production for the screening of the film and making the students learn something from it, both the core message from the story and the art of film making in preservation and restoration of our rich culture.
