12th September 2013: The Arts Department of the Senior Section conducted a Spelling Bee in the school hall at 7 pm. This Spelling Bee was for class VI, VII and VIII. The words were already distributed to the participants in advance. On the actual night, there were 27 participants; three each from 9 different classes. Prior to this, the school Principal had shown a movie related to the Spelling called, “ Akeelah and the Bee” in order to develop interest in Spelling Bee.

Miss. Tsering Yangzom la and Mrs. Kalsang Yangzom la, the two host welcome everybody and called upon the three Bee Masters followed by the introduction of the participants.  During the actual contest, the Bee masters gave words from the easy round to the difficult round. Each and every round was very exciting as the participants got disqualified one by one. And finally there were four participants left;  two from class VII and the other two from class VIII. The Bee master had a tough time deciding the winner. Luckily or unluckily, after few rounds, the Bee master was able to choose the best speller and it was Tenzin Youdon of class VIII A, followed by Tenzin Khardo of class VII E and Thupten Dolma of class VIII C as second and third respectively.

Finally, the school principal Mr. Karma Sherab la gave away the prizes to the winners, which included his own daughter. He highly appreciated the contest thoroughly and extended his vote of thanks to the organizers and the participants.
