2nd September 2013:  The 53rd Democracy Day ( Mangtso Duechen) was observed in TCV School Suja with a morning function which was attended by the school Director, the principal, staff members and the students. The special day was opened by Mr. Tenzinn Dorjee la with everybody singing the Tibetan national Anthem with the school band. Mr. Nyima  Dhoundup la, the Tibetan teacher at Senior Section  gave an introductory speech on How, When, Why about Tibetan Democracy. Speaking on the occasion, he took us through the major events in our Tibetan history that give rise to the birth of democracy. Unlike other countries who had to struggle for Democracy, the Tibetan Democracy was given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It was also a day to remind ourselves how grateful we are to our one and only leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The school Director, Mr. Sonam Sichoe la then read the statement of the Kashag on 53rd Democracy Day. At the end of the speech, he appealed  the assembly to carry one’s respective duties with full dedication and sincerity.  After that the statement of ATPD was read by Mr. Tsering Ngodup la, the Tibetan teacher and the Assistant Headmaster of Junior Section. Soon after, the students Department gave away the prizes to the students who had bagged positions in the recent Essay competition held purposely for this day. The school Director gave away the prizes and the function ended with the singing of school song “Khenpay Yeshay” with the school band.

The second house meeting was held after the function. All the students headed towards their house meeting spot.
