A female participant presenting a Dramatic Extract during the Elocution

5th April 2013: The First Senior English Elocution was held in the school hall on Friday night at 7 pm. The chairperson Miss. Phuntsok Dolma la welcomed all the staff and students with Robert Frost’s eternal lines, “The Woods are lovely dark and deep” as her opening lines and gradually she called upon the participants. There were as usual three sections namely Poetry, Speech and Drama section and 12 participants from various classes.

The chairperson introduced the judges and the audience gave a huge round of applause as the judges were ushered to their seats. The contest began with the poetry section followed by Speech and drama. All the participants had done their parts wonderfully even though it was their maiden performance for some of them. The contest lasted for a little more than an hour. And as usual the Drama section was most appreciated by all.

The chief guest was Mr. Lobsang Monlam la, the Assistant Headmaster of TCV Gopalpur who had come to Suja on a week’s Inspection. He gave away the prizes to the winners of each sections and consolation prizes for the remaining participants.

At the end of the contest, he gave a brief informal report and his observations during his weeklong stay in Suja. He highly praised the cleanliness and the discipline of the school.  He concluded his short talk by requesting the students to respect the teachers and study hard. Speaking about the contest, he said it was wonderful and thanked the chairperson for inviting him.
