25th March 2013: TCV School Suja celebrated its 27th anniversary today in a very formal way keeping in mind the recent self immolations inside Tibet. The school had turned 27 years in the service of educating the young Tibetan Children, since its first inception in 1986 at Bir Tibetan Colony, when the school was under the Kashag. The chief guest on the school founding day was Mr. Tsering Phuntsok la, the Representative Officer of Dege Division, Bir Tibetan colony. Present on the anniversary function were the Director and principal of TCV Gopalpur, Regional Tibetan leaders from the local Tibetan Colony and two staff members who had retired from the school.  The staff and the students gathered on the basketball ground at 8:45 am and the function began with the singing of Tibetan and Indian national anthem in unison.

The school Director Mr. Ngodup Wangdue la presented a brief report on the school as it turned into 27 years. He took the audience, including the guests through the story of TCV School Suja from the past to the present day. He presented brief annual report of the school including its facility, infrastructure, health, academic performance etc.

During the function, there were few cultural presentations by the students which added more live and entertainment for the audience. After the cultural presentation, the chief Guest Mr. Tsering Phuntsok la addressed the gathering. He congratulated the school as it celebrated its 27th anniversary  and spoke highly of Ama Jetsun Pema la, who had built TCV Schools along with her sister late Tsering Dolma la. Speaking on the occasion, he requested the students to aim for specialization in order to build the future nation and to stay away from the drugs and unhealthy habits that are gradually destroying the young ones in Tibetan community. He reminded the students the hope and dream His Holiness the Dalai Lama had for the young generation Tibetans. For the staff members, he requested them to work sincerely for shaping the future seeds of the nation.

Finally, the school Principal gave a vote of thanks. He thanked the chief guest and other guest for considering the day special and by accepting that invitation sincerely. He also thanked the staff members who had arranged the cultural presentation. With his vote of thanks, the function came to an end. There was special lunch for the staff members organized by the school welfare committee.
