11th March 2013: Geshe Lhakdor la, who is the head of the LTWA( Library of Tibetan Work and Archives) spent two days at  the school and gave valuable talk for both the staff members and students during his two days’ visit.  On the first day his talk was exclusively for the students. He began his talk by reminding them how we came into this world totally helpless and dependent. He told the students the three important things namely good Education, good Health and Punctuality, which would make a good student in one’s life. He also had question answer session with the students. During this session, he enlightened the students three types of Buddhism i.e Buddhist Philosophy, Buddhist religion and Buddhist Philosophy. Every time Geshe la came to talk, it was always great feast for one’s thought.

On the second day, he gave talk for the staff members. His talk for the staff members focused mainly on the daily working of teachers. He based his talk by referring to the norms of UNO convention on Rights of a child and Buddhist texts.

Speaking to the audience which comprised of mainly teachers from the two sections, he began his talk with the definition of a teacher and thereby he reminded them the three basic requirement of a good teacher namely higher knowledge, compassionate and tireless.  He also shared with the audience his personal experiences at various foreign countries. He fully convinced everybody gathered there that they all had a great responsibility of shaping the future seeds of a nation and making them full fledged Tibetan with both traditional and scientific knowledge as hoped by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

He enacted some excerpts from His Holiness’ latest book “Beyond Religion” and requested the staff members to follow the morality not because of being a Buddhist but by these three reasons which even non Buddhist cannot argue, namely Common Sense, Common Experience and Scientific findings. Geshe la’s talk lasted for little more than an hour and it seemed so short. His talk was full of wise instances and humor.

This was Geshe Lhakdor la’s fourth visit. He had been touring various Tibetans schools and giving talk to both the staff members and students.  As per the resolution passed during the annual Heads Meeting held at Tibetan Youth Hostel where Directors and Principals of various TCV Schools gathered for a week long meeting, the main focus of the year 2013 would be Development of Moral and Ethical Values and the year of small Children.

Finally the school Director, Mr. Ngodup Wangdue la thanked Geshe la and offered scarf. He also thanked Geshe la for always being there in spite of his busy schedule.
