The annual sports’ day of TCV school Suja was held on 6th October, just four days after the Inter House Marathon Race. Mrs Sonam Dolkar la, the Education Director of TCV Schools, was the chief guest and Mr. Kalsang Dhoundup, the secretary of the TSP was the guest of Honour. Besides them, there were other guest comprising of  TCV school Directors, Principals, dignitaries from nearby Tibetan settlements and monasteries.

The day began with the House wise march pass. There were around 400 students on the ground comprising of school Captain and prefects, band group, various flag bearers, meet flag carriers etc. The school Director, Mr. Ngodup Wangdue la gave the welcome and introductory speech. After that Mrs. Sonam Dolkar la gave a brief speech reminding the athletics about the importance of playing fairly with the sense of sportsmanship after which she opened the Inter House Athletics Meet Open. After that a group of students chanted Prayer of truth which was followed by song dedicated to the martyrs of Tibet. After that a group of students presented Himachali Dance. The last presentation before the commencement of the Athletics was the yoga presentation by a group of students.

Right after the cultural presentations, the track and field events began starting from the Hurdles followed by 80,200,400 mts race in all the divisions. In between the races, the announcers called on various field events one by one. The whole Suja valley was overflowing with cheers from the spectators. It was the really a judgement day for both the athletes and the house masters, who had been rigorously practicing for the past few weeks. The events went perfectly well and the officials did wonderful on the ground.The whole morning session was absorbed in track and field events. After every event, the scorer put the scores on the scoreboard and the final position right before the lunch was Songtsen House Leading followed by Triral, Trisong and Nyatri respectively.

The afternoon session was all relay races and mark allotment for each relay race was 16:14:12:10. There were two relay races for all the 8 divisions and the special medley race carried the maximum mark ie 24:20:16:12. Since the relay races were started one after another, the spectators had a very wonderful time and the officials on the ground had a tough time. The final race of the day, i.e Medley race, where two best runners in all the six divisions from four different houses competed was the most awaited event and this year’s Medley relay championship was taken by Songtsen House. After the actual race, there was invitational relay race, which was enjoyed by all the participating teams in both the boys and girls teams.

The closing ceremony began with the march pass of the athletes from the four different houses with the school band and flag bearers going ahead them. The prize distribution was done starting from the acknowledgement of services by various groups. The chief guest Mrs. Sonam Dolkar la gave away the prizes to the division wise champions. This year the overall championship trophy was collected by Songtsen House and there was huge round of applause from the spectators especially the Songtsen House students. The Second Position was Trisong, followed by Nyatri and Triral House. The chief guest declared the Meet closed. After that there was a vote of suggestion from Mr. Kelsang Dhoundup la. The school principal Mr. Sonam Sichoe la finally gave vote of thanks to all the people without naming each, who was responsible for the success of this 17th Inter House Athletics meet.

This is the one of the major events, which everybody both the Four Houses as well as the students looked into seriously. Because of the importance of this day, the school PET with the help from the school spends few days decorating the main ground
