The north leg of “Flame of Truth” which has been launched from Leh, Ladakh (JK) reached TCV School Suja on 3rd August while on its way to Bir Tibetan Colony through Sherabling monastery.
A crowd of nearly few hundred comprising of both the staff and students welcomed the torch with the welcome song by the school band. A function was arranged in the school all in the presence of the Representatives from the Bir Tibetan Colony, Chauntra Tibetan Colony and Choeling Monsatery. The function began with the singing of Tibetan National Anthem which was followed by one minute mourn for our great martyrs. The school Director and Principal offered scarves to the torch and also to the bearer of the torch.The school hall which was jam packed recited long live prayer and prayer of truth. The school Director, Mr. Ngodup Wangdue la gave an opening speech followed by the speech from the Representative of Bir Tibetan Colony. Speaking on the occasion, she said, “The present duty of the students is to put effort on education and become a contributing member in Tibetan community”. The school principal gave a vote of thanks at the end.

The torch was then passed on to Bir Tibetan colony at 3 pm accompanied by a convey of Bikers and motors followed by nearly 400 students. The torch was well received by the people in Bir Tibetan colony, where there was a function and refreshment for all.
This historic “Flame of Truth Relay” is a global event started in India and will be travelling in hundreds of cities all across the world. This campaign was organized by Tibetan government in Exile and sponsored by United Nations for a free Tibet. The relay was first launched from these three regions in the North, East and South India namely Leh, Ladakh (JK), Shillong (Meghalaya) and Kochi (Kerala) simultaneously on 6th July 2012, the Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.The “Flame of Truth Relay” which is accompanied with signature campaigns and petition letters will finally end on 10thDecember coinciding the Human Rights Day and the signatures and petitions collected during its relay will be submitted to the UN Headquarters in New York City, the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, and the UN information office in New Delhi.<
Flame of Truth is demanding investigation into Human rights Abuses in Tibet.

1. The United Nations must discuss the issue of Tibet based on the resolutions that it has passed in 1959, 1961 and 1965, and continuously make efforts to fulfill the substance of these resolutions.

2. An independent international fact-finding delegations must immediately be sent to investigate the ongoing crisis in Tibet.
3. The United Nations must take special responsibility to ensure that the basic aspirations of the Tibetans inside Tibet are fulfilled.
